GAM - Modern and contemporary art gallery
Description
Turin was the first city in Italy to desire the promotion of a collection open to the public of modern art. The Civic Museum was in fact founded in 1863 in order to group a collection of modern art, to which collections of Ancient Art were added, inside the Mole Antonelliana.
Founded around 1891-95, the Civic Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art, also called GAM, finds a space all to himself to house the artistic collections dating back to the years ofnineteenth century and Nine hundred.
Through an organized path on four floors, the gallery offers visitors surprising collections composed of over 47.000 works ranging from paintings and sculptures of the nineteenth century, to works of the twentieth century in particular of Divisionism, Futurism, Abstractionism, Pop Art and Arte Povera.
A unique gallery of its kind for lovers of modern and contemporary art and for all those who want to know this world, discovering the works of famous artists including Balla, Severini, Boccioni, De Chirico, Dix, Ernst, Klee.
